The UFO NETWORK had the pleasure of sitting down with this lovely lady whose production skills and poignant voice completely match her sweetheart personality! We talked about her dream collab, what song she would sing on American Idol and the one song she could listen to nonstop … Check out our exclusive interview with VASSY below!

Tell us about that first track that put you on the map in the electronic scene and the journey since

“The beginning of my journey that launched me into the EDM scene would probably be my record that I wrote called “BAD” with David Guetta – it just exploded and had over 1 billion streams … it was number one in over 30 countries around the world! It literally took off and from there it established me internationally in the electronic space.”

“Lost” has almost hit 4 million steams on Spotify, CONGRATS! What was it like working with Afrojack and Oliver Rosa?

“It was amazing! I love AfroJack and Oliver is very talented and when we performed it this year at ULTRA festival in Miami the fans all knew the song and it was an incredible feeling!”

Tell us about “Somebody New” featuring Sultan + Shepard on Armada Music?

“Somebody New” is a special record – I wanted to write something different that evokes emotions and shows a more vulnerable side. I love Sultan + Sheppard; we had worked on “BAD” together (many people don’t know that) and I think they are very talented producers.”

If you auditioned on American Idol, what song would you sing and why?

“I’m not big on the competition style platforms so I don’t think I would but if I ever did I would sing a classic old-school song by Billie Holiday or Etta James.”

Give us the name of one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you listen to it?

“I love Gypsy Woman by Crystal Waters – it never gets old. I can listen to that song all day any day!”

What have you got on your event calendar for the rest of 2018?

“I will be in Europe traveling. I have new releases I’m very excited about – I have one coming out in July I can’t wait for the fans to hear! I’m really excited because I have some big news … I can’t say yet but if you guys keep an eye on my Instagram I will be making announcements there.”

“We are Young” was featured on the stupendously popular kid’s movie “Frozen”’s official trailer – what’s it like producing indie pop as opposed to electronic music?

“I love writing indie pop quirky songs. ”WE ARE YOUNG” was a special record which I co -produced with Tim Myers, a very talented producer who was also part of OneRepublic. I was so excited to hear that it was the feature song for the trailer. Frozen won an Oscar and was incredible, we gave it an electronic sound and I’m so happy everyone responded well to that song!”

How do you get a track started? Tell us a bit about your production process. How long does it take you to complete a track on average, do you ever get writer’s block and who has been your favorite co-lab?

“Yes sometimes I get writers block. I love collaborating and working with people, it’s my favorite. It depends on the song really, there is no black-and-white way to do it. Sometimes you can start with an idea for a melody … sometimes you start with a lyric … or vibe to a beat …”

We see you are avid humanitarian and philanthropist, please tell us more about this passion of yours and the current projects you are working on?

“I have always enjoyed philanthropy work. One of my strengths is in empowering the youth to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams. I’ve always been good at reinforcing self-esteem issues, anti-bullying etc, and I’ve worked in many different environments such as detention centres, communities in remote areas, with kids off the street, kids that have suffered from abuse and so on. It’s very rewarding for me and I wish I had more time to do more.”

Fan question – “Name a producer that you would most like to collab with and why?”

“I always wanted to do a collaboration with Calvin Harris, he’s a very talented producer and I think the two of us could do something dope!”
