Listen to ‘Crave U’ feat. Lenii on Spotify!
- Tell us about that first track that put you on the map in the electronic scene and the journey since. How did you get started?
The first song I put out on soundcloud was called “Journey”. It got picked up by a festival in Mexico and I was asked if it can be the anthem for it. So straight out of highscool at 18 years old I got flown out to Mexico and my first show ever was there in front of 20,000 people. That was such an amazing feeling &from there I knew this is something I wanted to do forever. Since then I did a lot of remixes for my favorite artists and got the attention from the Dance Radio stations (Bpm, iheart Radio etc). The first single I put out was called “Hold On To Me” in 2018, That became the #1 Dance Radio song in the USA and from there I signed with my dream label Armada Music.
- Tell us about your latest track ‘Crave U’ feat. Lenii?
I made Crave U with one of my good friends Lenii. It started back in 2015 when I sent her a rough instrumental. Then years passed and we never finished the record. When I got asked to do an Armada University masterclass where I make a song from scratch, I knew this was the time to really finish it. So after one whole day it was complete! We are so excited for it to finally come out
- What single night out has been the most memorable for you as a DJ and producer?
There’s been so many epic moments on tour. But one of the most memorable was in Montreal at New City Gas. I never been to Canada before and so many people came out and was singing along to my songs. It was such a great experience!
- Tell us something we wouldn’t normally find out about you.
I don’t think a lot of people know this but before I was doing music I was an artist and I love to draw. Most of my early coverarts for my songs were done by me. & I design out all of my tattoos before bringing in an artist
- Give us the name of one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you listen to it?
Theres so many but one that I could never get enough of is The Temper Trap – Sweet Desposition (Axwell & Dirty South Remix) That song is what made me fall inlove with Dance Music.
- What tours / residencies / upcoming events do you have in the pipeline that we mustn’t miss out on?
I have a tour planning right now late Feb through the spring and im very excited to announce the dates. Be sure to keep an eye out
- Does your American heritage have any influence on your EDM production style?
Growing up in NYC I was heavily influenced by House Music. I grew up going to Pacha and fell inlove with Tech House, Deep House. I think that played a huge roll in my productions.
- How do you get a track started? Tell us a bit about your production process. How long does it take you to complete a track on average, do you ever get writer’s block and who has been your favourite co-lab?
Writers block sucks sometimes but I just take mini breaks or go for a walk to get my mind back in check. Songs usually take me 2-4 days to complete start to finish. Some remixes ive done in 4 hours. But that doesn’t happen all the time. It mostly starts with a vocal and im able to get inspired by that. Other times im in sessions with amazing writers and we do everything from scratch, I love that process aswell!
- What are you working on currently? Tell us more!
I’m almost done with my first EP and will be released in 2020! I’m so excited for everyone to hear these new records. I feel this is the most emotional body of work I’m putting out to date!
- Fan question – The relationship between the audience and the DJ is crucial, and yet it seems to be a fragile one – how do you see the balance between giving the crowd what they want and treating them to something new?
I feel there is a balance to that, especially in my sets I love to throw in stuff they won’t expect along with some releases might be a little different than the other. Its good to have that relationship because it keeps things interesting for the artist & fanbase.
