Exclusive Interview with Italian Super DJ & Producer Rudeejay on ‘Show Me Love’ & More!

UFO Network had fun chatting with Italian super DJ & Producer Rudeejay ‘aka’ Rodolfo Seràgnoli about his latest release Show Me Love‘ on Tiesto’s Musical Freedom which has been doing extremely well on Spotify, as well as the upcoming release of BreakDLaw & The Glitchfox‘s ‘Lonely‘ (The Remixes) on our very own record label, UFO Recordz on the 23rd of October and much more. Be sure to connect with Rudeejay on social media platforms below and stay up-to-date with the latest in new music and events!

Thanks for chatting with us Rudeejay! We are personally huge fans here at UFO Network! Please tell us about that first track that put you on the map in the electronic scene and the journey since. How did you get started?

Hey guys, thanks for having me! I started by DJing in many of the clubs in my hometown, we’re going back of almost 20 years (!!!), and the necessity of producing in a recording studio came from all those Booths: the first track that put me in the map was a remix for an electronic Italian band called Pinktronix.

A huge name in today’s EDM scene! ‘Rudeejay‘ is very unique and interesting. Tell us what that name means and how you came up with it? Does ‘Rudeejay’ have an alter ego?

Thanks again! The ‘Rudeejay’ brand has a very simple story: I’ve just united my real name, Rudy, with my job – that’s all, no alter ego or so on!

We just love your latest single, ‘Show Me Love’ on Tiesto’s Musical Freedom! What was it like working alongside Da Brozz and Chico Rose on this release? Can we expect more music from you on Musical Freedom the rest of 2020?

So happy to read that! Working with both of them was great: with Da Brozz we’re a team since many years – so everything came in very naturally, while with Chico Rose it was the first time and he gave such a twist to the original “Show Me Love” demo we brought as Rudeejay & Da Brozz to Musical Freedom: this is how the collaboration started. I’m pretty sure that, since November is around the corner, that’s all from us on Musical Freedom on 2020!

Tell us more about your upcoming remix alongside Da Brozz on BreakDLaw & The Glitchfox’s – ‘Lonely’ (The Remixes) EP out on our very own label UFO Recordz on the 23rd of October this year? What can we expect and what was it like working on the project?

That remix came also very naturally: with just one listen to the original “Lonely”, Da Brozz and I understood immediately where we wanted to take the track! We think that the original vibes relate a lot to that “Slap House” genre who took by storm the Dance Music industry during the latest months… And so we decided to bring “Lonely” there!

Covid19 has really impacted the world as we know it and we doubt things will ever be the same. How has the pandemic affected you as producers and performing artists? Would you say it has given you guys the opportunity to focus on production and getting new music out there?

Absolutely, especially in my case where performing was the main focus on everything (I started producing because of DJing), but let’s look at the “bright side” of things and think that during all these months we can rest more and spend lots of time in the recording studio!

Please tease us with some information on any upcoming projects you are currently working on or have planned? What do you guys have lined up for your fans for the rest of 2020?

In this very moment we’re remixing Tujamo & VIZE, NERVO ft. Tinie Tempah, and few months ago we remixed Dzeko ft. Keith Urban, and Burak Yeter… Hoping that I’m not giving away too much!

What gig or festival have you performed at that you would describe as your most memorable and why?

Nameless Music Festival here in Italy last June 2019… Simply, because is the biggest Italian Dance Festival.

As a producer trio on many releases, do you and Da Brozz spend a lot of time together when you are not making music or performing? What single night out together would you say is the most memorable for you guys and why?

Unfortunately not, because I live in Bologna while they’re living in Como – so we meet regularly for working in the recording studio… But the most fun we had together was when they played at Pacha in Ibiza and I joined in the DJ Booth: it was in 2017, so cool!

This is a question we love asking. Please tell us something about you that your fans don’t know. Surprise us 😉

When I was a kid I went to a concert of an English boyband called “Five”. Big fan back then!

We all have that one favourite song that always seems to hit home! Give us the name of one classic track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you listen to it?

Easy one: Halcyon and On and On” by Orbital. Best track ever!

How do you get a track started? Would you mind telling us a bit about your production process. How long does it take you to complete a track on average and do you ever get writer’s / producer’s block?

In my case, since I’m no musician, everything always starts from an idea more than a precise melody: there’s never an average timing in producing, in my case I can finish a track in a couple of days and in other occasions (like a new single I’m working on even now, but it won’t be out in 2020) more than a year – it depends on the nature of the tune. For example, if it’s something club-related it has to be immediate because you rely on the reaction of the crowd – so what you feel in the studio has to be the same vibe you want from the dancefloor, while if it’s like a “classic” song you can take your time and find the right sound for that tune when you feel that is now ready to be shared with the people.

Would you mind sharing any words of wisdom or advice with all up-coming producers and artists that are trying to break into the mainstream EDM scene today? What was the best piece of advice you guys ever received?

Do it for the love of the music and not because you may think that this is the easiest way to reach immediate fame, or if you just think that anyone can be a DJ: DJs are born, not made. 😉
