EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MORGAN PAGE

Hi Morgan! Thank so much for taking the time to chat to us! We at the UFO Network are HUGE Fans!

Tell us about that first track that put you on the map in the electronic scene and the journey since.

The first tipping point was having Deadmau5 remix “The Longest Road,” which in 2008 really blew up in Miami and around the world – it basically gave me permission to tour. Ever since, it’s been just working hard on new music, touring the globe, and doing my weekly radio show for Sirius XM.

Your latest track “Gone My Way” with Pex L dropped on the 1st May, tell us about the track and how this collab came about?

I played some of Pex L’s tracks on my radio show, and he sent me a DM on Twitter asking if I wanted to collab on a song he had in progress. Turns out he’s this young talented producer in the Canary Islands, so we swapped stems and really built this hybrid of different styles of dance music: progressive, electro-house, and some future-house.

What single night out has been the most memorable for you as a DJ and Producer?

Playing Red Rocks in Denver was hands down my favorite venue. I wish there were more outdoor venues like this! I’m playing the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington on June 14, which is also an incredible spot.

Tell us about new music or projects that you’re working on?

Right now I’m wrapping up tons of new singles. Next up is “Fire & Gold,” which is a combination of traditional songwriting and a modern aggressive dance music framework. I’m also about to release a card pack for music producers and creative types. It includes techniques for better creative flow in the studio. It’s a partnership with OWC that will include the cards when people order their thunderbolt drives and docks. It’s been a really exciting projects I’ve built over the years. http://mpquicktips.com

Give us the name of one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you listen to it?

I play a mashup of Split by Tiesto & The Chainsmokers and my single “Don’t Give Up” with Lissie that still sounds fresh and I play it at every show! It’s just a really fun mix. Somehow the best mashups usually form a great title – this one was “Don’t Split Up.”

Are there any Tours / residencies / upcoming events that you guys are super excited about?

I’m back at my Vegas residency at Daylight which is a really fun pool party, so I’ll be there the rest of the summer – but otherwise just lots of great shows throughout North America and some tours in Asia.

Tell us one thing the world doesn’t know about Morgan Page?

Some people don’t know this, but I’m a huge wine fan. I got into it 5 years ago after finding a loophole how to use room credit in Vegas for wine. Some sommeliers got me into the Paso Robles region, and now I’ve been to over 50 wineries up there.

How do you get a track started? Tell us a bit about your production process. How long does it take you to complete a track on average, do you ever get writer’s block and who has been your favourite co-lab?

There’s a million ways to start a track, but my favorite is to build a song with a chord progression, lead, bassline, arpeggio, then add more percussion. I’ll usually take this instrumental draft, mute the lead, or filter the instrumental, then shop it to vocalists. Then I rebuild and essentially remix everything around the topline vocal we record. Every song is different – sometimes it’s a few weeks, but usually it’s a few months. The hardest part is when you’ve heard a song too many times and can’t see the forest for the trees. You just need embrace the process and let it rest and work on something else for a while.

What is your Spirit animal?

Probably a golden retriever

Fan question – “Morgan you have a lot going on in your life – how do you unwind and relax?”

In a word – wine. Running helps me relax and sleep as well.
